The Northern Regional Security Council (RECSEC) has set up a seven
member committee to investigate the renewed communal clash between two
feuding Konkomba clans in the Gushiegu district.
Within a limited time frame, the committee has been tasked to establish
the ambiguity surrounding the renewed communal clash between two
Konkomba clans at Biriyamba and Yiyamba settlements in the Gushiegu
district.
The committee is headed by Deputy Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji
A.B.A Fuseini, who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu
constituency.
Other members of the committee include the three regional security
commanders, District Chief Executive for Gushiegu and Members of
Parliament for Gushiegu and Yunyoo, who are both Konkombas.
The committee’s report is expected to ascertain the real cause of the
renewed clash which might help RECSEC to determine the way forward.
Northern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ken Yeboah on Saturday May, 31
visited the two troubled Biriyamba and Yiyamba farming on a fact
finding mission.
In a Citi News interview, he said there was nobody to talk to since residents there have fled to unknown destinations.
Describing the parcel of land in question the feuding factions fought
over, DCOP Ken Yeboah said the renewed clash was needless.
He called for dialogue in all conflict prone areas in the entire
northern region to move the area forward in the right direction.
Three persons were reported dead whilst several households were torched during the recent clash.
Preliminary reports indicated that the combatants engaged in a fearless gun battle over a parcel of farmland.
