President John Mahama has indicated that his tenure as the chairman of
ECOWAS will ensure that the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with
the European Union (EU) delivers the best results for development and
prosperity of West Africa.
“…Regarding the Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union,
everything must be done to ensure that the people of West Africa are
given an agreement that delivers the best results for their upliftment
and prosperity,” he said.
He made this known in his acceptance speech after he was unanimously elected as the ECOWAS chairman for a one-year term.
Addressing his colleague heads of state, President Mahama stated that
he will also focus on security and peace in the sub region, economic
integration and development and the expansion and rehabilitation of
infrastructure in West Africa.
