In a bid to encourage the recently crowned Entertainment Entrepreneur of the Year, Dr. Kofi Amoah has rewarded Mr. Kwabena Anokye Adisi a.k.a. Bola Ray, with a whopping sum of Ghc 50,000.
Dr. Kofi Amoah is no doubt one of Ghana’s richest men,
who have not only attracted foreign investment into the country but as
well oversees chains of corporate organisations in the country.
He is the Chief Executive Officer of Progeny Ventures which facilitated
the entry of global remittance service provider; Western Union into
Africa. Western Union started its African operations from Ghana in 1995.
Twelve years on, the company had expanded its operations to almost all
54 African states.
In a chat with GhanaWeb Entertainment Desk on what prompted the kind gesture, Dr. Kofi who is also the owner of Citizen Kofi;
a popular entertainment centre in Accra, said that he was inspired to
show such gesture as a result of Bola Ray’s passion, and efforts which
represents the new age of Ghanaian youths.
He went on to reveal that, “Bola Ray has the heart of giving and this
he has shown with his huge involvement in charitable activities across
the country. He has constantly shown that he can do more if given the
‘push’. So supporting him will only see him soar higher.”
In a chat with Bola Ray, he said that he was shocked and humbled at the gesture. He went on to thank Dr. Kofi Amoah profusely.
On his plan for the money, he said, “I will give Ghc 10, 000 to the SOS
Village because that has always being my first love charity. Also, I
will pay the school fees of three needy students in my hometown, Agona
Nsaba in the Central region of Ghana for this academic year. And the
rest will be ploughed back into my business to see it reach higher
heights.”
It would be recalled that Bola Ray, Chief Executive Officer of Empire
Group of Companies was recently adjudged Entertainment Entrepreneur of
the Year Award 2013 at the 4th edition of Ghana Entrepreneur Awards.
Bola Ray’s Empire Group of Companies includes Empire Entertainment
(which organizers of the yearly ‘Ghana meets Naija’ concert, one of the
biggest musical concerts on the Ghanaian event’s calendar which provide a
common platform for top-notch artistes from both Ghana and Nigeria to
share and thrill music lovers from both countries), and Empire 102.7 FM
in (a new radio station in Takoradi in the Western Region which started
its test transmission a couple of months ago.), among other
subsidiaries.
Ghana Entrepreneur Awards is organized annually by Entrepreneur
Foundation to recognise outstanding Ghanaian entrepreneurs and non
Ghanaian resident entrepreneurs who continue to contribute towards
national development through job creation.
