1st National Graduate Employment Conference

I have never been a fun of attending Seminars because l strongly believe in myself and by God's grace l have kind of achieved a lot in my life. But somehow everything changed when l attended Catalyst for Change with Dzigbordi K.Dosoo & Friends.

My personality changed, personal appearance on point (Dzigbordi gave us the things needed to be that wooow person),working on my dreams of being able to organise one of the biggest event in Ghana, and most importantly doing everything with touch of class from Papa Tee.

I don't know what your dreams are or what you hope to be in 5 to 10 years to come, but l personally would want to invite you to the 1st National Graduate Employment Conference to just to reduce that 5 to 10 years dreams to at least 4 years.

The Rector of Takoradi Polytechnic and the Minister for Youth and Sport are coming, not to promise us of Government support but to let us know that us can make it without the Government,we can create our own Silicon Valley too in Ghana, solving problems in our various communities.

John Armah and Bernard are also coming;two young individuals l respect so much.
The names can go on and on but if left to me alone, this conference will be free to all but as the saying goes "Many are called but few are chosen".....the opportunity to have your beautiful proposal funded is just at your finger tips, meeting up with our speakers one on one.

This will be my second seminar and l will not trade anything for it.

The date is 10th May at the Takoradi Polytechnic Auditorium.... Hope to see you there.

Entrepreneurs need strong organisational culture'

Entrepreneur and corporate lawyer, Mr Elikem Nutifafa Kuenyehia, has challenged Ghanaian entrepreneurs to deliberately build cultures that support their specific visions, missions, and aspirations, as the surest way to make their businesses outlive them.

He said that was the only way the country could move from the one-man micro and small scale dominated entrepreneurial landscape to a high-growth inter-generational businesses environment.

Mr Kuenyehia, the Managing Partner of Oxford and Beaumont Solicitors, one of the fastest growing law firms in the country which consults both locally and internationally, said the Ghanaian traditional culture was so strong on stereotypes, imagery, values and norms that it often found its way consciously or unconsciously into a business and became the default entrepreneurial culture.

“My research showed that too many of our entrepreneurs limit themselves by our cultural norms and barriers. This seems most peculiar given that most of our cultural norms and values were developed when we were predominantly a rural-based agrarian economy,” the corporate attorney said in Accra last week when he took his turn to deliver the Graduate School Prestigious Lecture at the Ghana Technology University.

Also an adjunct lecturer in Entrepreneurship at the Ghana Institute of management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Elikem’s disappointment in the absence of any local content entrepreneurial textbook motivated him to research and write a comprehensive book on Ghanaian entrepreneurship, Kuenyehia On Entrepreneurship, which has been touted as the first local content textbook on Ghanaian entrepreneurship.

He said the starting point for every Ghanaian entrepreneur should be a conversation with self that would enable them to identify their strengths and weaknesses as well as sifting through which cultural norms and values could be fused into the business culture.

“Part of that process of having a conversation with yourself and with your team is to filter out which cultural norms you want to embrace and which ones you’ll want to modify, as well as being clear which ones your business will have no room for,” he stressed.

In recognition that culture was a key competitive advantage, the firm had distilled it into a document, “the Oxford & Beaumont Way of doing business”.

“We agree with Herb Kelleher the legendary founder of South West Airlines that ‘Personality is strategy’ and like South West Airlines, we are conscious that our brand is based as much on our personality and spirit as it is on our technical legal excellence’

“We take inspiration from the Kofi Amoabengs, the Kofi Dadzies, the Steve Jobs, the Richard Bransons, the Donald Trumps, the Herman Chinery-Hesses etc and recognise that nobody ever built an insanely great company by being ordinary or by obeying convention…at least not yet,” he adds.

Some negative stereotypes

He cited some of the negative stereotypes and cultural values and how they affected the individual and the organisational culture.

For instance, the notion that children must be seen not heard assumes that children have nothing to contribute and this could translate into leaving out junior level staff in decision making process at the workplace. It doesn’t also encourage staff to develop their own unique voices or stand up for their beliefs.

Again the pervasive ‘wait till you are older’ belief suggests a mandatory waiting time before becoming a leader, while at the same time very little is done to prepare the young for leadership.

It is also often the case that the Ghanaian culture associates age or experience with wisdom or competence, suggesting that adults know best.

And suffice it to say that the ‘Obema Nsu’ maxim, to wit “a man does not cry” in business connotes business people should be heartless and that the field is reserved for only the hard core.

Mr Kuenyehia shared his personal experiences as well as others in the business world to motivate the graduate class and challenge them to dare to make a difference.

‘Leadership by listening’

He said ‘listening’ was an important tool entrepreneurs should embrace as part of their organisational culture.

“It’s the most powerful and certainly the most cost effective management tool that I know of. To listen, you need to create a culture of talking,” he advised.

He explained that although it was not easy to always listen when one owned the dream and was the leader, “when you do listen, you really create magic by crafting a strategy that’s unique to the people on the bus and which no one else can replicate.”

Sarkodie’s female fan tattoos ‘Sark’ on her chest

Some people are really in love with the man Sarkodie. I know some people will do more than what these ladies have done but to tattoo ‘Sark’ on your body, it’s theirs so I have to keep mute.

This is not the first time a fan is doing this to her skin because there are many instances which have been reported about this same issue but it’s rare in Ghana.

Call it fanaticism or attention seeking but this wild girl certainly caught my attention.

This female fan of Sarkodie shared a photo of herself with ‘sark’ tattooed on her chest.

She wrote: “ya’ll tag @sarkodie1 3tags for a free shoutout @sarkodie1 @Mzz_daisy @sarkodiefans”

Carlos Sakyi calls for Obour’s resignation; says MUSIGA is in shamble

Carlos Sakyi, Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), has reacted harshly to accusations by Bice Osei Kuffour (Obour), who is the Musicians Union of Ghana president, that GHAMPRO has failed to live up to expectation.

Obour, in a statement, expressed disappointment at the current board of GHAMRO for failing to achieve the core objectives of the institution.

As the president of MUSIGA, Obuor is an automatic board member of GHAMRO.

He said in the statement: "the current direction and focus of GHAMRO as an organisation does not guarantee the utmost benefits to right owners and members."

But Carlos Sakyi refuted Obour's statement in an interview with Scoop on Hitz FM stating MUSIGA rather "is a living disaster".

According to him, it is very wrong for a board member of GHAMRO to write a letter to the board and turn around to have the letter published on the internet when the board itself has not seen the letter.

"If he has any dignity left, the best thing to do is to resign. It is disgraceful,” and added that ever since Obour joined GHAMRO, he has never made any contribution to the board.

Carlos Sakyi noted that Obour's conduct is gross violation of board's ethics.

He alleged that Obour and his administration “have already destroyed MUSIGA. I mean MUSIGA is a living disaster now and now they want to mess up GHAMRO too."

Akufo-Addo receives 2013 NYUPED National Achievement Award

The Northern Youth for Peace and Development (NYUPED), on Tuesday, presented the “2013 NYUPED National Achievement Award” to the 2012 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Presenting the award, the Executive Director of NYUPED, Mr. Prince Hardi Adams, explained that the choice of the 2012 NPP flagbearer for the award was reached after a board meeting held on the 15th of October 2013, where it was unanimously agreed that Nana Akufo-Addo should receive the award.

According to Mr. Adams, Nana Akufo-Addo was presented with the award “because of your achievements over the years as a dedicated leader for Ghana and your ideal democratic maturity in the just ended Presidential Election Petition".

“We have unanimously decided to add this local award to the already prestigious national and international awards that have been given to you in recognition of your great achievements and love for our country Ghana, upon your acceptance of the verdict of the Supreme Court, and your decision not to seek a review thereafter,” Mr. Adams said.

The Executive Director further added that the decision to award Nana Akufo-Addo was also reached because of the immense contributions he has made to the socio-economic and human capital development of the Ghanaian people.

“In fact as a son of our dear country, and coming from humble beginnings, you have emerged as a giant to give hope to our under-privileged brothers and sisters, especially those coming from the Northern Regions and the entire Ghanaian people,” Mr. Hardi said.

He continued, “You have demonstrated that, with God, hard work, dedication, resilience and focus, everything is possible to achieve as a Ghanaian.”

Nana Akufo-Addo, on his part, thanked NYUPED for the honour done him. He urged leadership and entire membership of NYUPED to remain focussed in their quest to ensure development and peace abounds in the 3 Northern regions.

Ghana leads in recorded stowaway cases in West Africa

Ghana has been rated as the country on the west coast of Africa with the highest recorded number of stowaways.

Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Richard Yinga Anamoo says the situation is worrying.

In a meeting with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on Wednesday at the Tema port, Mr. Anamoo bemoaned the fact that when the stowaways are arrested, they are often released by the police because of lack of evidence.

He noted that the mere fact that one enters a vessel illegally, it can be assumed that the person intends to stowaway.

“So, we are not very clear as to what would be the evidence that the police could not have produced to support the case; this is a very worrying incidence,” he said.

“We are putting in a lot of measures including electronic devices and what have you.”

Mr. Amanoo said his outfit has intensified the 24 hour patrols at the port.

He, therefore, wants the IGP to aid them in addressing the problem.

The IGP, Mohammed Alhassan, gave the assurance that his outfit will help deal with the matter. “We will increase the number of officers and logistics,” the IGP promised.

Mr. Mohammed Alhassan has been touring parts of the Greater Accra region inspecting the work of the marine police.

His tour took him to Senchi, in the Eastern region and Ada, in the Greater Accra region.

It's time for Ghanaians to know the truth - Woyome

Businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome says he is unperturbed by Wednesday’s ruling by the Financial Division of the Fast Track High Court, dismissing his submission of no case.

The court ordered Mr. Woyome to open his defence on May 5.

However, in an interview with journalists after the ruling, Mr. Woyome said he is excited by the opportunity granted by the court since it will give him the platform to tell Ghanaians exactly what happened prior to the payment of the Ghc51.2 million judgment debt.

“I think that this opportunity which has come will give me a court room opportunity to be able to tell the good people of this country about what happened from the beginning…then Ghanaians would understand and take a cue from me that no matter the situation, the constitution of this country must be protected and each individual must stand firm,” Mr. Woyome said.

The court, presided over by Justice John Ajet-Nasam, two weeks ago, adjourned judgment to today, because of ill health.

Mr. Woyome had filed a submission of 'no case' in the ongoing Ghc51.2 million judgment debt trial.

State prosecutors said Mr. Woyome, in February 2010, made a false representation leading to the award of some judgment debt to him over the rehabilitation of the Kumasi, Accra and El-Wak stadia ahead of the 2008 African Cup of Nations.

Prosecute alleged wrong-doers cited in SADA report - Send-Ghana Director

The country Director of Send-Ghana, a non-governmental organization, George Osei-Bimpeh, has recommended that those cited for alleged malfeasance in the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) report must be charged with causing financial loss to the state.

According to him, prosecuting the case in court will help retrieve monies invested in the SADA project, but had not been used for the intended purposes in the selected communities in the three Northern regions and parts of the Volta and Brong Ahafo regions.

“Send-Ghana invested $250,000 in a module and has achieved a lot of success in some parts of the North. So, how then do we allow millions of Ghana Cedis to go unaccounted for?” He wondered.

SADA in partnership with Asongtaba Cottage Industries planted 5 million trees in the three northern regions of Ghana -- Upper East, Upper West and Northern regions -- as well as parts of Brong Ahafo and Volta regions of the SADA ecological zones; with the aim of greening those areas and reducing the effect of climate change at a cost of GHc33 million.

However, a long dry season and bushfires allegedly destroyed majority of the trees planted.

An interim report by the Auditor-General states that GHc1,059,649.00 went into “Inappropriate mode of selecting Consultants,” for SADA.

According to the report, SADA had employed the services of highly skilled professionals who are well remunerated to carry out their assignments, yet management contracted four consultants and had been paying them monthly fees totaling a whopping GHc620,206.00.

The four are Dr. Charles Jebuni as Chief Technical Advisor, who took a total of GHc437,206.00 in a period of 22 months (GHc19,873.00 monthly); Salifu Mahama as Engineer for Housing, took a total of GHc96,000.00 in 16 months (GHc6,000.00 monthly); Bakari Sadiq Nyari, Land, grabbed a total of GHc108,000.00 in 10 months (GHc10,800.00 monthly) and Kennedy S. Mohammed, Resource Mobilization, collected a total of GHc75,000.00 in 10 months (GHc7,500.00 monthly).

Six officials of SADA have also been asked to pay back over 830,000 Ghana cedis to the Authority.

Two of the six, who are board members, are supposed to pay back GHc60,000 they received from SADA for performing unspecified administrative duties.

The situation has led to public criticisms of SADA officials for purported malfeasance in the implementation of the projects.

In an interview with Afia Pokua on Adom FM/Asempa FM’s Burning Issues on the way forward for the SADA projects, Mr. Osei-Bimpeh called for the law to take its course.

Mr. Osei-Bimpeh believes consulting the right stakeholders would have helped in prioritizing the needs of those in the SADA selected communities.

Gang rape: 2 friends jailed 15 years

Two friends who conspired and raped an 18-year-old senior high school student have been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment each by the Bekwai Circuit Court.

The convicts are Richard Osei, 23, and Samuel Boakye, 18. They both pleaded guilty to the charges and were sentenced accordingly.

The facts available to the court, presided over by Mr. Daniel Obeng, was that, the complainant in the case is a second year student of Beposo Senior High School.

The prosecution said that at about 8pm on April 16 the complainant boarded an Urvan bus which was being driven by Richard Osei, with two other passengers on board, with Samuel Boakye acting as the driver’s mate.

On reaching Nyameani, the Urvan bus stopped; the driver got down, went to town and came back smelling of alcohol.

After driving for another short distance, the driver stopped again, and this time Boakye got down and said he was attending to nature’s call.

The prosecution said when they returned, Richard forcibly had sex with the complainant, who at that point was the only person left in the car.

After that Samuel also had his turn, after which they continued with the journey.

When they got to the cemetery at Pramso, they stopped the car and raped her in turns for the second time. In the process, Richard's phone fell down and the complainant took it, which she later used as evidence in court.

After the second act, the prosecution said the lady got down from the car and was picked by a pastor at the roadside, who sent her to the police station.

The two were arrested. After investigations, they were charged and put before the court.

Punish SADA officials for wasting taxpayer's money - Dominic Nitiwul

The Member of Parliament for Bimbila in the Northern Region, Dominic Nitiwul, says officials of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) should be punished for misapplying funds meant for developing the north.

According to the Deputy Minority Leader, failure to charge and punish SADA officials for all the financial malfeasance could serve as a disincentive to future government's to allocate funds for special development initiatives that will bridge the wealth gap between the north and the south.

Mr. Nitiwul was speaking on Wednesday, on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM, in reaction to revelations by Joy News' Manasseh Azure Awuni, of alleged mismanagement of funds by the Authority.

Allegations of corruption, improper award of contracts among many others, have bedeviled the operations of SADA which was created to coordinate development in the northern parts of Volta, Brong Ahafo, as well as the three northern regions- Northern, Upper East and Upper West.

Dr. Emmanuel Abeere-Nga, Director of Integrated Development Programmes at SADA, had on the Show, dismissed the claim that money intended for the afforestation project in the north was not spent wisely.

He said the contractor for the project, ACICL, planted over five million tree seedlings across the savannah belt of the country. According to him, the Authority subsequently contracted the University for Development Studies (UDS) to validate the survival rate of the trees which is yet to be made available to SADA.

"...we needed to make sure that they [ACICL] had performed according to the terms and reference we had agreed with them on the initial contract...What we needed was for us to find the exact number of trees which was planted and that is what we asked UDS to go and incorporate into this report".

Dr. Abeere-Nga could not, however, provide further details of the acreage of land the tree seedlings were planted, when pressed by host of the Show, Kojo Yankson. His explanation was that the figure emanated from ACIC Limited and not from SADA.

Obviously unconvinced by the account given by the SADA official, Mr. Nitiwul expressed concern at the reckless misapplication of public funds handed to persons of northern descent for the development of the north while no one is being held accountable.

"For the first time in our history, a lot of money has been handed to northerners...to manage and it turns out that once the name of SADA is mentioned, it is synonymous with corruption and nobody gets punished.

"If we allow SADA to fail and people don't get punished, it will be difficult for any government in the future to give us resources to develop the north," Mr. Nitiwul noted.

He hinted of plans to get Parliament to investigate the alleged rot at SADA to ensure the misapplied funds are recovered by the state.

"We are concerned about taxpayers' money being misapplied and nobody is being punished," he said.

Gbevlo-Lartey removed as National Security Coordinator

National Security Coordinator, Colonel Larry Gbevlo-Lartey (retired), has been removed from office.

A statement signed by Information and Media Relations Minister, Mahama Ayariga says the Director of Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) Mr. Yaw Donkor has been appointed to replace Col. Gbevlo-Lartey effective May 12, 2014.

The statement said Col. Gbevlo-Lartey is to be re-assigned to a yet-to-be named designation.

President Mahama commended the out-going Security Coordinator for his "loyalty and dedicated service to the state".

Col. Gbevlo-Lartey was appointed to the position by late president John Atta Mills in 2009, following the National Democratic Congress' electoral victory in December 2008.

His name had come up in many controversial occurrences, the latest being his involvement in the destruction of a toll booth under construction at the Okponglo end of the gate leading to the campuses of University of Ghana, Legon.

His action drew condemnation for the Vice Chancellor, who described the action of the National Security capo as lawless because due process was not followed.

But Col. Larry Gbevlo-Lartey defended his action, claiming that the University had no right to put up the toll booth there.

Oliseh: Poor planning is Africa's WC problem

Former Nigeria captain Sunday Oliseh says that the time has come for a team from Africa to win the Fifa World Cup.

In a chat with CNN’s Human to Hero series, Oliseh said that in the past poor preparation and planning have played a big part as to why teams from Africa have not gone further than the quarter-finals in the World showpiece.

“I think an African country will eventually win the World Cup. What is lacking now, it’s simple to say … what is wrong is that we don’t plan well. We leave the planning ’until it is too late,” Oliseh said.

“Africans need to learn how to start pressurizing the opponents. Football has changed now. It’s no longer football where you pick individuals and expect them to do well.

“Now it’s more about team work, team dynamics, team schemes, things that are planned out like how to look at the opponent, how to bring about antidotes to the opponent’s playing star.

“When it comes to physical strength and bursts of speed, you can’t beat an African. But what is lacking now is just that technical and tactical know-how. Then we’ll get it,” he added.

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has alerted the public about the distribution and sale of fake Vermox tablets on the Ghanaian market.

A statement issued by the FDA said the fake Vermox tablets were found through its postmarket surveillance in some shops in the Western and Greater Accra regions.

It said laboratory analysis conducted on two batches of the fake Vermox revealed that the two batches contained no active ingredients.

Dr. Apaak: The state cannot condone fraud and criminality

Presidential staffer, Dr. Clement Apaak, has called the bluff of the Importers and Exporters Association over their threat to go to court if the Presidential Special Operations taskforce is not withdrawn.

Spokesperson of the taskforce, Dr. Clement Apaak, has accused the association of seeking to protect companies and individuals who have conspired to defraud the state, an act he says, his office will not condone.

The Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana has given government up to Friday to withdraw the taskforce or meet them in court.

The Executive Secretary, Sampson Asoki Awingobit, has accused the taskforce of unlawfully auctioning 19 containers of refrigerated items of its members and also entering into Top Industries Limited to conduct investigations without any court order.

According to Mr. Awingobit, the conduct of the taskforce only amounts to abuse of its mandate.

Speaking to Joy News, Dr. Clement Apaak maintained that they operated within the law in the two instances cited by the association.

"The case of Top Industries came as a result of intelligence...upon which investigations were conducted and it was determined that Top Industries was selling alcohol to another company [Excellence Industries Limited] which shouldn't be the case," he explained.

He said: "That was entirely work done by the CID [Criminal Investigations Department of the Police Service] in collaboration with Customs and the Special Operations Unit".

"There is nothing to indicate that the Special Operations Unit has done anything untoward...The state cannot condone and or support or even entertain the use of associations to protect fraudsters and criminality," he maintained.

Dr. Apaak wondered why the association would kick against their operations which has so far saved the nation millions of cedis.

"We cannot understand why an association would want to seek the disbanding of a taskforce which is exposing criminality; which is exposing fraud; which is exposing conspiracy between unscrupulous public officials and companies, and their representatives to defraud the state".

ECG: 10 million Ghanaians involved in illegal connections

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) says more than 10 million Ghanaians have illegally connected electricity to their homes or businesses.

ECG’s Public Relations Officer, William Boateng, told XYZ Breakfast Show host Moro Awudu on Tuesday that, “For the past three years, we are talking about almost 10 million,” people engaged in “various illegal connections”.

Mr. Boateng said the illegal connections include bypassing the power distribution system, as well as tampering with the electricity meters among a raft of other means.

According to him, the situation causes the power distributor to lose a lot of revenue since those enjoying the illegal power supply will consistently not pay for their consumption.

A similar situation persists in the water supply system. About six years ago, the Director of the Ghana Water Company Ltd told the GNA that only about 400,000 Ghanaians nationwide pay water tariffs.

In Mr. Botwe’s estimation, the number is deplorably inadequate. Per his projections, even if the population of Greater Accra alone was three million with an average of five people living in a house, then about 600,000 housing units could be identified to pay water tariffs in that region alone.....

Herbal medicine is a National Heritage

Torgbuiga Yaka IV, Registrar, Traditional Medicine Practice Council, has called for the protection of the sanctity of herbal medicine because it is a national heritage.

“A few bad nuts are destroying the image of herbal medicine and it is our collective responsibility to bring to book those who are just selling anything as we empower those who are yet to subject their medicine to scientific tests to do so. Let’s improve upon it because this has sustained us through the generations,’ he said.

Speaking on the topic, ”Mainstreaming herbal medicine in Ghana: the critical issues” on the occasion of the first founder’s day of Aponkye Memorial Clinic in Tema, he said although governments have in one way or the other recognized the contribution of herbal medicine in healthcare delivery, a lot needed to be done.

According to him, if the mainstreaming of herbal medicine becomes successful, “It will be an official offer by way of public recognition of alternative care modalities.

“An official opportunity for Ghanaians to at any point in time choose one form of healthcare provision from two alternatives, possibly under one official roof or in one public health facility,” he added

He said 15 health facilities, including the LEKMA hospital in Teshie, are piloting the mainstreaming agenda where both herbal and orthodox medicines would be under one planning coordination and control.

Torgbuiga Yaka IV called for the official and direct recognition of private herbal medicine entities, where government workers treated under their roofs would have their bills paid for and where there could be cross referrals between orthodox and herbal medicine facilities.

Aponkye Memorial Clinic was established by Nana Kojo Ntina in Tema in 1970 with three assistants. It now has a forty-three bed capacity ward and staff strength of thirty.

Clarence Seedorf: At times, it's better to leave Balotelli alone

AC Milan boss Clarence Seedorf believes the best way to deal with striker Mario Balotelli is to leave him alone.

The 23-year-old reacted angrily to being substituted during Friday's 2-0 loss at Roma before launching into a tirade at journalists after the game.

The Dutchman believes the former Manchester City forward has been hindered by the huge amount of attention paid to him by the media and believes he thrives if left to his own devices.

"Balotelli has improved. He asked me why he was substituted against Roma, the same way Keisuke Honda did against Lazio. We have an excellent rapport between adults," he told Sky. "I don't think he left the field in a bad way. As for insulting his teammates after a misplaced pass, I've seen that gesture 1000 times in my career.

"Journalists have not helped Balotelli's growth. I talk to him and give him constructive criticism, but I do it in private, not via the media. At times, it's better to leave him alone. I feel his positive changes are not highlighted. It's not fair only to look at his negative moments. His scoring statistics are strong."

"It might sound pretty rash and naive, but, in my opinion, we are dealing with a new Guardiola," he wrote in a blog.
"What we have seen in the first week has been more than convincing.
"The similarities with Sir Alex Ferguson are striking and it is evident that Ryan Giggs has learnt from one of history's most respected football managers."

Giggs also has big bad Louis van Gaal, the man favored to become Man United's manager next season, running scared. From the Independent:Van Gaal’s urgency will be fuelled by an awareness of the growing enthusiasm for Giggs to be handed the job and suggestions have emerged that it might be difficult to accommodate Giggs and the Class of ’92 members he has gathered together into a new set-up.

And if that isn't enough to convince you of Ryan Giggs' freshly tapped managerial brilliance, then consider that Jamie Redknapp, a man Jose Mourinho sarcastically dubbed a "brilliant football brain," says that he looks "every inch a Manchester United manager." Presumably because he wore a suit and tie with club crests affixed to them.
The way the fans have rallied behind Giggs is understandable given his position as a beloved figure and the club's current longest serving player. But after the match against Norwich, the requirements to be the manager of Manchester United seem to have been revised to "someone with undeniable experience and a track record of winning Europe's most important trophies...or just someone we really like."

To some degree, this can be put down to the fact that if you eat nothing but dog food for 10 months, even McDonald's will taste like a gourmet meal. Giggs is a familiar and comforting sight, especially following a disastrous reign by a manager who looked like this...

But that doesn't mean he should be saddled with the impossible expectations of an immediate return to sustained success that appear to be creeping over him. The man has exactly one match of managerial experience. He might one day prove to be a morally flawed Guardiola-Ferguson hybrid, but to expect him demonstrate that now seems just as dangerous as letting Moyes keep the job. Even Guardiola managed Barcelona B for a season before taking over the first team (which was in far better shape than Man United's is now).

Manchester United's remaining matches this season are against 17th-place Sunderland, 13th-place Hull and 8th-place Southampton. If they win them all, Van Gaal will probably be asked to work under Giggs....

TAKORAD POLYTECHNIC ELECTORAL PROCESS (FUTURE FOR STUDENT LEADERSHIP)

The Takoradi Polytechnic held it election for the various Department and New Executives for the SRC organized injunction with the the School's Electoral Commission and the SRC Election Commission on Monday 14th of April on both campuses,New Site and BU.

After nearly two of the election, atmosphere on campus is calm than during the election. l felt l should write something for those who could not take part in the this year's election and maybe our lecturers could also have a feel of it. PLEASE NO HARD FEELINGS on this Article.

To beginning with the Business School (BU), student’s eagerness to partake in the electoral process was on a high note, majority of them being Purchasing students as 3 of their own people were contesting for the PASSAG P.R.O,ORGANIZER and SECRETARY respectfully.

Fortunately and Unfortunately, the gentleman standing for the PASSAG P.R.O won as his other colleges couldn’t impress the student body to win the positions, but fortunately again, the PASSAG SECRETARY was won by an old student from St.John’s Grammar, my Alma Mater.

Am not giving the result of the election but making a review of the whole electoral process as the attendance at the business school was somehow impressive and surprising.

Students in general especially the Business students were so happy to cast their vote even though the sun was scotching, the thumb was ready to decide who rules the school for the next one year.

Departmental Election (BU Campus)

SRC Presidential aspirant, Hon.Hanson had tent erected to shield the voters from the mercy of the sun. All the SRC Presidential candidates provided free troski to and fro BU to New Site (Mechanics of getting votes hmmmm).

A visit to Main Campus was not encouraging as less attendance was recorded when l was there.(one student told me, students came to cast their vote early in the morning as most of them had lectures). That explains why Hon.Richard Ziemah spent his time at the Business School.

Nevertheless, the voting process was smooth, well organized; one at the Plumbing block and the other at the Auditorium (on the walk way to the server room).

Security at the polling venues was at it highest peak. Ghana Police and the combine efforts of Takoradi Polytechnic security personnel provided the needed law and order.

Not forgetting the electoral observers, they were so keen on taking note of every activity even though some were indirectly asking or convincing fellow students to vote for their candidates.

To my satisfaction, l believe Ghana has a bright future for upcoming Electoral Commissioners and Observers.

In all, l will commend Takoradi Polytechnic Electoral Commission, the Dean of Student, SRC electoral commission, and the lecturers for ensuring smooth electoral process and most importantly giving the students body the opportunity to partake in decision making for their well being and the Institution as a whole.
